You might be interested to know that I showed your blog to someone who is thinking of doing omething very similar with a group of teachers linked together through an action research project. Blogging had never occurred to them and they think it is a great idea. It looks like Dewsbury College is at the cutting edge of developments in the action research field.

Hi Paul,
My name is Frieda and I am one of the tutors involved in the action research project.
I am a CALL tutor and my project is to try the use of social networks (Bebo, Multiply, Orkut, etc) as a teaching and learning tool. The group I am developing the research with is my ESOL outreach class. The main objectives for using the tool are to:
- improve students' writing skills;
- develop their independent learning;
- promote group interaction and support; and
- take learning outside the classroom;
Research has been part of my career as a Zoologist, but now I am diving into a new field and would like, if possible, some bibliography advice on action research methodology and educational research in general. What would you suggest?

Hi Frieda
I think the best book on Action Research is Koshy,V. (2005) Action Research for Improving Practice. London: Paul Chapman.
A useful general book is Denscombe M. The Good Research Guide. Open University Press.
Please get in touch if you need more help.
Paul
